Bengal Tigers

The Bengal tiger is one of the most admired creatures on the planet. They are found only in the grasslands and rainforests of India and Southeast Asia. When most people think of tigers they think “danger” as this animal is a ferocious hunter. The following paragraphs will explain much about Bengal tigers and their life cycle.

The life cycle of a Bengal tiger has four stages. First, 3 to 4 cubs are born per birth. After two months, cubs begin to follow their mothers and hunt small animals. Cubs are very active. They leave their mothers about a year after birth. They will then hunt and fend for themselves. They reach maturity at 3 to 4 years of age, and then they are a ferocious hunter. Finally, they are an adult tiger, becoming quite large. An adult tiger can weigh 400-600 pounds and live about 20 to 25 years.

Baby Bengal tigers look like cute kittens. At birth, they are about 12 inches long and weigh less than two pounds. Many animals try to attack the cubs like leopards, hyenas, and snakes. To keep the cubs safe, the mother will stay with them for the first year. They spend most of their days playing with their brothers and sisters and learning how to hunt.

The body of an adult Bengal tiger is like a deadly weapon. Tigers prefer to hunt small animals like deer, wild boar, and foxes. If smaller prey is difficult to find, they will attack larger prey like bears, crocodiles, and rhinos. Tigers have the strength and quickness to take down prey more than twice their size. They have powerful jaws and razor sharp claws, like a knife. They kill by severing the spinal cord with their teeth or by a suffocating bite of the throat on larger prey. While a tiger is deadly, it is also very quiet. It can sneak up on prey with its quietness and quickness. Its stripes help it blend in with its surroundings so it can catch prey.

Bengal tigers are ferocious hunters and are at the top of the food chain. However, they are no match for humans, and they are killed for their furs. Over the last two hundred years, humans have almost eliminated all of the tigers in the wild. The Bengal tiger population has decreased from 100,000 in 1900 to only 4,000 currently. Today, they are one of the most endangered species in the world.

In conclusion, tigers are one of the most admired yet feared animals. The life cycle of a Bengal tiger begins as a cute cub. It has four stages, ending with the adult tiger, which is a ferocious hunter of prey and at the top of the food chain. Their bodies are built to be the ultimate predator and they can kill any animal of any size, even an elephant. Humans, however, are the biggest threat to the tiger population. With only a few hundred left in the wild, a way needs to be found to stop killing these wonderful animals and destroying their habitat.
